Certificate of European Studies (CES)
Objectifs
The Certificate of European Studies (CES) is a university certificate awarded after successful completion of one semester of study at Sciences Po Strasbourg. It is taught exclusively in English and aims at enabling international students with little or no prior skills in the French language to gain access to the excellence of a French Grande Ecole’s programme of study. By combining lectures, seminars, field trips and educational visits, the CES focuses on Europe in a global perspective, while also introducing students to the French language and culture. Thanks to Sciences Po Strasbourg’s long-standing partnership with European institutions such as the European Parliament and the Council of Europe, international students will therefore have a unique opportunity to gain both theoretical and practical understanding of Europe from the very heart of its capital.

Critères de recrutement
The maximum number of students who can enroll in this program is 25, in order to ensure high-quality interaction between students and teachers.
Candidater
- Your home university has an exchange agreement with Sciences Po Strasbourg (Erasmus+ agreement or bilateral agreement) or with the University of Strasbourg (exchange agreement for universities outside Europe only) : you must be selected by your home university.
- Your home university does not have an exchange agreement, neither with Sciences Po Strasbourg nor with the University of Strasbourg: you will have to pay a registration fee of €1390.

Prérequis obligatoires
This programme is aimed at international students who have completed at least two semesters of higher education (60 ECTS credits) and have not studied in France more than a year.
■ Students must demonstrate English language proficiency :
o TOEFL IBT (taken before Jan. 2026): min. 89 overall
o TOEFL IBT (taken after Jan. 2026): min. 4.5 overall
o IELTS: min. 6.5 overall (no less than 5.5 for any component)
o Cambridge B2 first: min. 170
o Duolingo: min. 120
■ No prior knowledge of French is required; the programme is tailored for students who are beginners or intermediate learners of French.
