Objectives in terms of knowledge (course content):

Students work in small groups on the design of their own genetically engineered system. The project consists of several phases: brainstorming, bibliographic research, system design, reflection on implementations, and presentation of the project. The students are supervised by the teacher throughout the project and present their work in front of the class, actively participating in discussions during the various presentations. Students are required to consider the societal and environmental impact of their project

Compétences requises

Objectives in terms of skills:

  • Identify a problem or challenge that can be addressed through synthetic biology.
  • Conceptualize and develop a synthetic biology project.
  • Define and appropriately utilize synthetic biology and molecular genetic terms.
  • Evaluate your project in comparison to the current state of the art.
  • Situate your project within a societal context.
  • Acquire skills in working collaboratively, exchanging ideas, and organizing within a group.
  • Provide constructive commentary and criticism on a scientific project.
