Description

Following the growing awareness on sustainability and the global discussion to shape frameworks, which would tackle ecological and human wellbeing, the module critically addresses key issues around the framework of ecosystem services, as defined by the MEA (Millenium Ecosystem Assessment) and applied to the urban dimension. It aims at looking at challenges around socio-cultural services, from an interdisciplinary perspective and learning from international cases through readings.

Compétences visées

- Students will gain theoretical knowledge on key ideas related to sustainability, ecosystem services and how they relate to social capital and human wellbeing.
- They shall develop analytical skills on contemporary debates around sustainability through that framework for assessment, while addressing a sociologic perspective. It is expected that students will develop cross-disciplinary skills, reflect on the realities of ecological processes in the city through the analysis of practical cases, and improve their written and oral communications through discussions, reading’s presentations, and the listening of relevant podcasts.
