Cities and the Environment : International Theories and Approaches
Description
Following the growing awareness and recognizance of people's voices in place-making processes, the module addresses key issues around public engagement and sustainability applied to the local scale, by looking at challenges addressed by communities and grassroots, from a bottom-up perspective.
Compétences visées
- Students will gain theoretical knowledge on key ideas related to sustainability, community participation and governance, social inequalities and cultural diversity attached to place-making processes; and develop analytical skills on contemporary debates about community engagement, through a few challenges for sustainability taken from the study of international cases.
- The participants will develop a reflective approach on ways to serve the community and enhance social capital.
- They will gain cross-disciplinary and practical skills through fieldwork analysis.
- Aside, students will improve their written and oral communications through discussions, reading’s presentations, the listening of relevant podcasts and the writing of a reflexive essay.
