Chemistry on nanoparticles and drug delivery
Description
The topics will focus on organic functionalization, characterization and bioapplications (i.e. drug and gene delivery) of different classes of nanoparticles and nanomaterials:
- organic nanoparticles (i.e. peptides and dendrimers; liposomes; micelles)
- inorganic nanoparticles (i.e. carbon nanotubes, graphene, 2D materials and metal nanoparticles).
The topics will contain :
- Introduction and peptide self-assembly
- Principles in drug delivery
- Gene delivery
- Dendrimers
- Polymers and micelles
- Liposomes
- Carbon nanotubes
- Graphene and 2D materials
- Gold nanoparticles and quantum dots
- Iron and silica nanoparticles
- Critical analysis & discussion of articles
Compétences visées
- Identify the main differences between organic and inorganic nanoparticles
- Associate the different nanoparticles to their properties and applications
- Recognize the advantages and disadvantages of each class of nanoparticles in term of biomedical applications
- Propose appropriate chemical functionalizations based on the type of nanoparticles
- Design a multifunctional nanoparticle or nanomaterial for a specific therapeutic and/or diagnostic application.
