Independent research project - S2
Description
The aim of the ‘Independent Research Project’ module is to discover the process of fundamental or applied scientific research, principally by carrying out a research project while immersed in a research laboratory. It may also be carried out in partnership with a company or public authority.
This module enables students to gain initial practical experience of research and an understanding of how it works, which will prove useful whatever their career path. It will also enable students to test their skills and taste for basic or applied research.
The skills developed in this module (critical analysis, project management, time management, ethics in the scientific world, writing and presenting a study using a given formalism, etc.) will be of value to all students, even if they are not heading for a career in academic research.
